
Track and Field Competes at UW-Whitewater on Thursday

Second day of Drake Relays starts tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. CT in Des Moines
WHITEWATER, Wis. – Marquette University track and field competed at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative on Thursday.
"Some good results on this Thursday in Whitewater," said Bert Rogers. "It looks like we'll be battling some weather tomorrow at Drake but we're looking for big things tomorrow and Saturday."
Julia Beck finished first in the 100m hurdles with a PR of 14.64 seconds, tied for the 10th fastest time in program history.
"Today was a great day for Julia, she ran a lifetime best all conditions time," said Bert Rogers. "
Caleb Venzke finished first in the javelin with a throw of 54.22m, the 10th longest throw in program history. Cole Donahe finished second in the same event with a throw of 52.90m.
John Pitta finished first and set a PR in the triple jump at 14.13m. Pitta finished seventh in the high jump clearing 1.92m.
Tessa Hollander finished first in the javelin throw with a mark of 38.42m. Grace Mager finished third (35.27m) and Riley Ward fifth (33.81m) in the same event.
Emma Coon finished first in the 5000m at 18:20.86 seconds.
Emma Kingsley finished fifth in the pole vault clearing 3.41m.
Gretchen Pfeiffer finished fourth in the 1500m at 4:51.61 to set a new PR. Ava Thomas (4:54.96) and Gianna Kohnen (5:00.43) finished sixth and ninth in the same event.
Gus Kasun finished eighth in the 400m at 50.59 seconds.
Haneefa Adam finshed second in the 100m at 12.59 second and sixth in the high jump with a mark of 5.18m.
Marquette went 4-5 in the 400m hurdles with Makena Coltoff (1:11.71) and Sylvia Fochesato (1:12.18).
Dan Weizeorick finished 14th in the 3000m steeplechase at the Drake Relays with a time of 9:07.64 seconds.
"The steeplechase was a solid race, it was just not Dan's day," said Rogers. "He was making an attempt at breaking the school record and it just didn't come together. He's a competitor and we've got a few weeks of preparation before BIG EAST."
