First-year head coach Chris Allen announces assistant coaches
The Marquette University women's soccer team has announced the hiring of Jacqueline Baetz and Chelsea Davis as assistant coaches with the program, first-year head coach Chris Allen announced Wednesday morning.
Â
Baetz arrives at Marquette after most recently working as an assistant coach at Lindenwood and Davis will also serve as MU's recruiting coordinator after two seasons (2022-23) as head coach at Pacific University Oregon.
Â
"I am ecstatic to announce two coaching staff additions who are as passionate, excited and committed to the process of returning the Marquette women's soccer program back to BIG EAST and national prominence as I am," Allen said. "Chelsea and Jacqueline are two of the most engaging, positive, enthusiastic, tough and relentless people I have had the privilege of being around.
Â
"Simply put, they are going to make me better, our program better and this already special Marquette community that much better. Â I was always told that good people tend to find good people, and I am glad they found us."
Â
Baetz spent the 2023 campaign at Lindenwood after playing one season for the Lions. In her lone season, she was second on the team in goals and points. The St. Louis native landed on the All-Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer Team for her efforts.
Prior to her time in St. Charles, Baetz spent four years at Missouri State. During that time, the Webster Groves, Missouri product made 50 starts and was a three-time All-Missouri Valley selection and was a key member the Bears 2017 MVC Championship and NCAA tournament team.
Â
Baetz is a 2022 graduate of Missouri State with a bachelor's degree in exercise and movement science.
Â
Davis owns a wealth of experience coaching at both the collegiate and club level. She served as head coach at NCAA Division III Palomar College in 2021 before moving to Pacific University in Oregon for two seasons as head coach (2022-23). Prior to her head coaching role at Pacific, she was assistant coach at University of San Francisco, Fresno State, Academy of Art University and internationally at University of Sydney.Â
Â
Davis' experience at the club level has included work at elite clubs, including the Sand Diego Surf Soccer Club, where she coached and developed all ECRL age groups.
Â
As a student-athlete, Davis played on three WAC championship teams at Fresno State, scoring five goals as a junior in 2007. She started her playing career at Houston before transferring to Fresno State, where she earned her bachelor's degree in communications in 2008. Davis completed her master's work in multimedia communications at the Academy of Art University in 2013 while working as an assistant coach.
Â
Davis played professionally in Sweden in 2012 with Division 1 Bollstanas and also competed in the WPSL with the San Francisco Nighthawks. She holds a USSF National B License and is continuing progress to an A License.
