MILWAUKEE – First-year head coach Jake Richard has announced seniors Will Foster, Bobby O'Grady and junior Peter Detwiler as Marquette University men's lacrosse team captains for the 2025 campaign.
"We are excited that Will, Bobby and Peter will lead us into a new era of Marquette Lacrosse," Richard said. "Will and Bobby are entering their fourth seasons with the program and have each made a large impact on our roster and the University as a whole. Peter is as reliable as they come and will take on even more responsibility as a stalwart of our defensive unit."
O'Grady was an All-BIG EAST selection for the third time in his career last spring after also leading MU in goals for the third time. He notched 26 goals in 2024 and became the program's all-time scoring leader on Feb. 24 against then-No. 13/12 Michigan.
The native of Milton, Massachusetts ended the 2024 campaign with 114 career scores and is third in Marquette history with 133 points in 43 career games. His 45 recorded during his freshman season still ranks as a program single-season record.
Foster has started 32 of the 39 games in which he's played at MU and is fifth in program history with 33 career assists. Last season he scored a career-high 16 goals on a .348 shooting percentage and reached at least 23 points for the third time in as many years. The native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota recorded a career-best 16 assists as a true freshman in 2022 and owns a single-game career high of five goals, recorded twice, most recently on April 6 of last season at then-No. 6/9 Georgetown.
Foster enters 2025 on the cusp of MU's all-time top-10 with 72 career points and is just five points behind Andy DeMichiei (77) in 10th place.
Detwiler played big minutes as both a freshman and sophomore as MU's top short stick defensive midfielder, a title also held by Richard during his NCAA career. The native of Devon, Pennsylvania has played in each of MU's 28 games over the last two seasons and owns 34 career ground balls and seven caused turnovers in addition to one goal.
The Golden Eagles begin the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Michigan and host their home opener on Saturday, Feb. 8 against Detroit Mercy inside the seasonal dome at Valley Fields. MU also hosts an intra-squad scrimmage on Jan. 18 and travels to Annapolis, Maryland for Jan. 25 scrimmages against Virginia and Navy.
