
Forbes Named to Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List

Marquette junior is one of 50 players selected to the watch list.
ATLANTA - Marquette junior Skylar Forbes was selected to the 2025-26 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Watch List, presented by AXIA Time, the organization announced on Tuesday. The junior is one of 50 student-athletes named to the watch list.
Forbes, a 2024-25 All-BIG EAST First Team and 2025-26 All-BIG EAST preseason selection, averaged a team-high 15.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last season, starting in all 31 games played. The 6-foot-3 forward also broke the program record for blocks in a season with 56.
A native of Markham, Ontario, Forbes led the BIG EAST and was eighth in the nation last year in free-throw percentage, shooting 90.9% (120-of-132), the second-highest percentage in a single season in program history. Posting 20-plus points in eight games, and reaching double figures in 26, the junior led the Golden Eagles in scoring 16 times in 2024-25. A versatile scorer, Forbes led MU in made 3's with 49.
Forbes was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll five times during her sophomore season and was named the Battle on the Banks Tournament Most Valuable Player. This past summer, she played for Team Canada at the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series in Vienna, Austria.
Of the 50 players on the watch list, Forbes is just one of five from outside the Power 4.
Forbes and the Golden Eagles open the 2025-26 season Nov. 3, hosting Winthrop at 11 a.m. CT at the Al McGuire Center.
