Marquette Owns Advantage In All-Time Series
  Â
Marquette owns a 24-14 advantage in the all-time series, with the Golden Eagles claiming wins in 14 of the last 17 outings and each of the last seven games. Â
  Â
All but two of the series matchups have come since Marquette joined the BIG EAST in 2005-06.
  Â
The programs first met during the 1941-42 campaign and the Hoyas were able to claim a 35-34 victory. Â The next meeting didn't come until the 1971-72 season and Marquette posted an 88-44 winning decision.
  Â
The Golden Eagles rallied for a 74-66 win over the Hoyas on Jan. 7, 2025 at Fiserv Forum after trailing by as many as 14 points. Â Guard Chase Ross led all scorers with a career-best 27 points and six steals.
Marquette Lets It Fly In Latest Win
  Â
Marquette, which hadn't knocked down more than 11 3-pointers in a game in any of the team's previous 10 outings, was 12-of-15 from deep in the first half of Tuesday night's 82-52 win over Providence.
  Â
The Golden Eagles finished the night 17-of-41 from behind the line, marking the most makes in a regulation game since draining 18 against No. 20 Buffalo on Dec. 21, 2018 and the 41 attempts set a new program single-game record (previous was 40 vs. Western Carolina - Nov. 30, 2024).
  Â
Seven different players knocked down treys for the Golden Eagles and 12 of the team's 13 baskets in the opening 20 minutes were 3-pointers.
  Â
MU's 30-point victory matched the team's third-largest winning margin (34, most recently vs. DePaul, 2/21/24) in BIG EAST Conference action.
Continuity Is Key To Recent Success Â
  Â
Since the 2022-23 campaign, Marquette is the only power conference team that hasn't signed a NCAA Division I transfer, leading to as consistent a starting lineup as any program in the country.
  Â
Through games of Feb. 26, Marquette is one of just two squads (St. Mary's) to feature the same starting lineup (Jones, Mitchell, Joplin, Ross, Gold). Â Two years ago, Marquette and Marshall were the only two teams in the country to utilize the same starting five the entire season.
  Â
Since the opening contest of the 2022-23 campaign (Kolek, Ighodaro, Prosper, Mitchell, Jones), just eight different players have started a game for MU, the lowest total in all of NCAA Division I. Â Of the eight, the three players (Kolek, Ighodaro, Prosper) currently not starting for the team are competing in the NBA.
  Â
Joplin, who hasn't missed an outing in his 133-game career, has a chance to pass Lazar Hayward (138) for most career appearances. Â Jones and Mitchell will also finish in the top-10 this season and junior Chase Ross might have a shot at the top spot in 2025-26.
  Â
Marquette's stability has allowed the program to be ranked for 48-straight weeks in the Associated Press Top-25, the fourth-best active streak in the country. Â MU was ranked a program-best 166-straight weeks from 1970-80.
Ben Is Golden On Career Night Â
  Â
Junior forward Ben Gold netted a career-high 17 points in Tuesday night's win over Providence, matching Kam Jones for the team lead in points in the 82-52 victory.
  Â
The Wellington, New Zealand native finished 7-of-9 from the floor overall and 3-of-5 from behind the 3-point line. Â His seven made field goals marked a career high and he also found time to chip in six rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot in an efficient 22 minutes of action.
  Â
In the previous eight games, Gold had reached double figures in points on just one occasion, a 10-point effort in the win over Seton Hall.
