
Hughes Sets Program Record on Day One of BIG EAST Indoor Championships

Golden Eagles begin day two at 11 a.m. CT Saturday
CHICAGO – Marquette University track & field competed on day one of the 2025 BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday.
"Overall good day one at Big East," Bert Rogers said. "Big highlight was Aaron Hughes breaking his own school record in the 200m and qualifying to the final in both the 60 and 200. We really competed well and brought a lot of intensity across the board. I'm looking forward to keeping the momentum going tomorrow."
Aaron Hughes ran a program record 21.49 second 200m in the prelims to advance to tomorrow's final. Hughes will be in two final races tomorrow after running a 6.81 second 60m.
Julia Beck qualified for the finals of the 60h by finishing fifth in the prelims at 8.84 seconds, a new PR for the senior and the third-best mark all-time.
William Waterstradt tied his PR in the 60h prelims at 8.36 seconds to qualifies for tomorrow's final.
Day two begins Saturday morning at 11 a.m. CT with field events.
