"Fantastic day at Big East today," Bert Rogers said. "We had a couple people on the podium, a couple of qualifiers to tomorrow's finals, put down a few new top-ten marks and saw Danny Olsen break a 44-year old 400m program record. We are excited for more big things tomorrow!"
Sophie Herriot won silver in the pole vault, clearing 3.62 meters. Herriot is the first Marquette women's pole vaulter since 2021 to medal at the conference outdoor championships.
Gus Kasun earned bronze in the decathlon with 6,883 points, the fifth-best performance in program history.
Danny Olsen ran a program record 46.46 second 400m in the prelims to advance to Saturday's final. Olsen broke John Rydeski's record of 47.13 seconds ran at Michigan State in 1981.
Aaron Hughes qualified for the 200m final with a 21.36 second trial time, the fourth-best time in program history. The senior also ran a 10.64 prelim time to qualify for the 100-meter final.
Julia Beck (14.18 seconds) and Olivia Verden (14.89 seconds) advanced to the 100 hurdles final.
Final day at the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships begins Saturday morning at 9 a.m. CT with field events.
