Golden Eagles Secure a 4-2 Win Over Illinois State

MU recorded four singles wins in the first win of the season
MILWAUKEE, WIS - The Marquette University men's tennis team secured their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon defeating Illinois State 4-2.
The doubles contest came down the wire as Marquette duo, Blake Roegner and Remi St. Laurent clinched a 6-4 win in the first position, and Illinois State responded with a 6-3 win in the second position.
The Golden Eagles ultimately dropped the doubles point after Kristian Blagoev and Evan Glebov fell 6-4. A defaulted match from the Redbirds leveled the match at 1-1 headed into singles action.
Illinois State pushed out in front 2-1, after St.Laurent fell 6-2, 6-0 to Caden Scarlett. It didn't take long for MU to respond, as Clayton Anderson logged a 6-3, 6-1 straight set victory over Jett Leong knotting the match at 2-2.
Blagoev faced Christian Capacci on court and saw his match go into extended sets. Blagoev dropped the first set 3-6, but maintained composure as he cruised to a 6-4 win in the second set. Blagoev left little room for doubt in the third securing the point 6-1.
It was Roegner that sealed the victory for the Golden Eagles as he defeated Adrian Dibildox in extended sets. Roegner took the first 6-3, but Dibildox gained momentum in the second winning 7-6. Roegner defeated Dibildox 6-1 in the third set securing Marquette's first win of the season.
