Coppage and Vazquez claim two singles wins
The Marquette University men's tennis team continued the dual campaign on Thursday afternoon with a 4-2 loss against UNC Asheville to conclude play in Florida.
The Bulldogs opened the match by narrowly claiming the valuable doubles point, clinching with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. MU duo, Hugh Perrill and Luke Coppage took a 7-5 win in the third position.
UNC Asheville used three singles wins to secure the match taking victories on courts one, three, and four.
The Blue and Gold recorded two singles wins before the match was called. Coppage defeated Trevor Gray in a 7-6, 7-5 straight set effort. Ivan Vazquez saw his match go into extended sets against Martin Fuks. Vazquez dropped the first set 6-1, but responded in the second with a mirroring 6-1 win to froce a third. In the superset, Vazquez held on to defeat Fuks 10-8.
