WLAX Adds Former Captain Emma Soccodato to Coaching Staff

Former team captain and All-BIG EAST honoree returns to the Blue and Gold as assistant coach.
MILWAUKEE – Marquette University women's lacrosse head coach Meredith Black has announced the addition of former Golden Eagle standout Emma Soccodato as an assistant coach.
"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Emma back home to our coaching staff," Black said. "As a former two-time captain and standout player, she perfectly embodies what it means to lead this program. What truly sets Emma apart is her unmatched energy. She brings an infectious enthusiasm and positive attitude to every single situation. She bleeds blue and gold through and through, and I have no doubt her passion and leadership will make her an amazing addition to our team."
During her playing career at Marquette from 2019-23, Soccodato served as team captain during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, earning Second Team All-BIG EAST honors in 2022 and First Team honors in 2023. Her 125 career draw controls also ranks ninth in program history. Soccodato was recognized as a BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection, Athletic Department Honor Roll member, Academic Honor Roll member and Dean's List honoree multiple times in her career, and graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship in 2023 before completing her MBA in 2024.
Before arriving at Marquette, Soccodato competed for Team Italy at the 2017 Women's Lacrosse World Cup, becoming the youngest player at age 16 to compete in the tournament.
Soccodato returns to Marquette after one season as the head varsity lacrosse coach at West Bend High School in West Bend, Wis. In that role, she managed day-to-day operations, planned and ran practices, coordinated fundraising efforts, and worked with athletes, families, school staff and community supporters. The program achieved its first winning season during her tenure.
In addition to her coaching experience, Soccodato worked as a Buyer/Planner in Supply Chain at Golden Pet Manufacturing and previously served as a Valuations Analyst at Gordon Brothers while completing her MBA.
