The 2025-26 campaign will mark the 13th at Marquette for Jud Shaufler overall, but his first as head coach of the men's program at the university.
Shaufler began his career as an assistant coach at MU, but most recently oversaw both the men's and women's programs as the director of tennis for two seasons (2023-25).
Shaufler's career has included several stops in director of tennis positions at clubs including Northmoor Country Club (1984-2002) and Western Racquet Club (2002-2010) in Elm Grove, Wis. While at WRC, Shaufler supervised a USTA Men's Pro Futures Tournament and served as coach of Wisconsin's 18-and-under Jr. Davis Cup Team in 2010. He has coached a number of players who have reached the collegiate level and worked with the organization of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
Shaufler was a member of four conference championship squads (1977-80) at Michigan, where he earned a degree in education. He claimed a pair of Big Ten singles titles (1977, 1978), won the doubles championship on two occasions (1977, 1979) and helped the Wolverines to a trio of NCAA Championship appearances. He went on to compete at the professional level, eventually earning an ATP ranking.
Shaufler was a three-time state singles champion at the Prairie School in Racine, Wis., and four-time title winner in the state's junior division.
Shaufler and his wife, Cindy, reside in Bristol, Wis., and the couple has two children, Ashley and Brent.
