2007: A gritty defender who helped solidify the Golden Eagles[apos] back line, Carlson racked up 18 yellow cards during his four year career, a Marquette record. He played in 61 career matches and made 53 starts. In 2007, he tied for the team lead with three assists, finishing his senior campaign with three points in 17 games. Carlson tallied one assist in Marquette[apos]s 2-1 win over Xavier (Sept. 7). He then recorded assists in two of the team[apos]s last three games of the season, a pair of 2-1 losses to No. 2-ranked Connecticut and the regular season finale against Pittsburgh.
2006: Carlson scored his first career goal, striking a long free kick at Wis.-Milwaukee (Sept. 13) and he added an assist one game later at Cincinnati (Sept. 15). His season was shorter than his previous two as he missed most of October due to injury, returning for the season finale at Georgetown (Oct. 21).
2005: Carlson was a starter in all 17 matches for Marquette, solidifying the Golden Eagles[apos] back line as a tenacious defender. He also specialized on long throw ins deep in the opponent[apos]s end. He picked up one assist in the 1-0 win over Wis.-Green Bay (Oct. 12).
2004: Carlson only missed one match in his freshman season but he started all 17 matches in which he played. The defender assisted on goals at DePaul game (Oct. 20) and Cincinnati (Nov. 7). A master of the throw-in, Carlson was always called upon for a Marquette entry. Carlson fired seven shots on the season.
At Nicolet: Carlson was a first-team All-North Shore Conference selection as a senior. He earned Second-Team All-North Shore Conference honors as a junior. Carlson was a team captain and MVP as a senior. He was also a member of the Wisconsin ODP team form 2000-2004 and was a member of the 1986 Regional Pool and Regional team member under Eddie Henderson. He was coached as a Knight by Mark Schill. He also earned three swimming letters and earned Academic All-American status as a swimmer.
Personal: The son of Jean and Doug Carlson, he has an older brother, Dan, and younger sister, Kelly. He was born on July 9, 1986. He majors in business.
