The 2019-20 season will be the second for Madison Hoover as a member of Head Coach Meredith Black's staff at Marquette University. She spent the 2018-19 season as a volunteer assistant before being promoted to director of lacrosse operations for the program.
Her responsibilities include organizing team travel and lodging, social media, film evaluation and player development.
In her first year with the team, Hoover helped MU to the first ever 10-win season in program history as the Golden Eagles qualified for their first-ever BIG EAST tournament berth. Another program first in her inaugural season with the team, MU defeated a top-25 team when they took down the No. 24 Georgetown Hoyas on senior night at Valley Fields.
Hoover came to Marquette in the fall of 2018 after concluding an excellent playing career at the University of Louisville (2014-18). A four-year contributor, she totaled 75 career points, scoring 38 goals and tallying 37 assists. She started in 34 contests during her final two seasons at U of L on the way to IWCLA All-Star honors in her final year of eligibility. Hoover led the team in assists (14) as a senior and finished third in both goals scored (23) and points (37). Her 37 career assists totals put her in fifth-place all-time in Louisville women’s lacrosse history.
She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville in 2018, majoring in sports administration and minoring in communications.
Originally from Ijamsville, Maryland, Hoover played four years of lacrosse at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School for coach Mike Haight. A first-team all WCAC selection in 2014, she would later be named to the Washington Post All-Metro second team. She was also honored as a Maryland Crab Draw All-American her senior year.
