Stuart Roche enters his ninth season for Marquette University as an Assistant Director of Sports Performance in 2023-24. Roche’s primary focus is with the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams as well as the men’s and women’s tennis teams. Roche is also the Internship Coordinator and is responsible for delivering the Sport Performance - Intern Coach Development Program that serves to develop young professionals in the field of strength and conditioning
Prior to joining Marquette, Roche worked as a Research Specialist in the Department of Orthopedic Research at Michigan. In this role, Roche investigated the structure of the muscle and tendon, along with its response to loading and injury. He is the co-author of eight peer-reviewed research papers and the primary author of one.
Roche also served as the strength and conditioning coach for men's and women's rugby at Michigan, and was responsible for all facets of sports performance.
Roche also played rugby throughout his high school and collegiate career at home in the UK and overseas in the states.
Roche graduated from Loughborough University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in sport and exercise science. He is currently studing for an MS in Sports Exercise Analytics through Marquette's Graduate School. He also spent time studying abroad at Michigan.
In 2021 Roche founded the non-profit ‘My Momentum’ that provides education, networking and financial resources for developing performance professionals.
Originally from Stamford, England, Roche lives in Milwaukee with his wife and son, Ariel and Jesse.
