Micaela Encarnacion joined the MU women's volleyball staff in May 2024 as assistant director of operations for the 2024-25 academic year.
Encarnacion will assist in management of team operations, including travel logistics, equipment management, camp and clinic oversight, in addition to marketing and social media planning.
The native of Hoffman Estates, Illinois joins the Golden Eagles after two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. While with the NCAA Division II program, she assisted the coaching staff at practices, in facilities management and with team operations. Her primary duties included executing team fundraising efforts and oversight of and participation in camps and clinics. While with the Rangers, she oversaw the academic progress of UWP student-athletes and helped manage the squad's social media profiles.
She attended the American Volleyball Coaches Association Convention in Tampa, Florida in December 2023 as one of 20 recipients of the AVCA's Diversity Award. At the convention she participated in a coach development program with volleyball leaders by attending educational seminars and engaging in relationship-building experiences.
Prior to earning a master's of science with distinction in sport management from Parkside in May 2024, Encarnacion was a two-sport athlete during five years at Ripon College from 2017-22.
She was a three-time volleyball team captain and graduated as Ripon's No. 2 athlete all-time in service aces (140) and No. 5 in digs (1,373). She was also the squad's most valuable player during her junior season in 2019.
Encarnacion was also a three-time captain on the softball team, a two-time team MVP and a two-time All-Midwest Conference outfielder. She graduated third in program history in both hits and doubles and was fifth in runs scored.
She graduated from Ripon with a bachelor's degree in 2021 as a double major in elementary education and exercise science before earning a degree in sports management in 2022 while completing her NCAA eligibility.
During her time at Ripon, Encarnacion was the softball team's social media content manager for three seasons as a student-athlete and served an internship as a men's basketball team manager and social media content manager in 2021-22.
Encarnacion was chosen as one of 45 Division III student-athletes to participate in the Student Immersion Program at the 2022 NCAA Convention. She was also selected as one of 200 Division I, Division II and Division III student-athletes to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in June 2022.
In recent seasons, Encarnacion has assisted the National Basketball Association as a transportation liaison at the NBA Combine in both 2023 and 2024, in addition to serving as an operations and events assistant at the NBA Head Coaches Meeting in 2022.
She also held administrative and marketing internships with the Wisconsin Juniors Volleyball Club and Game Day USA in 2023.
