- Email:
Josh Mitchell joined Marquette University in October 2025 as the Director of Communications. He serves at the primary contact for women's basketball, men's soccer and golf.
Mitchell has worked in the field for more than 15 years, publicizing five conference championship teams in five different sports, three individual track and field national champions and 14 conference "of the Year" award winners. His list of student-athletes' accomplishments also includes 43 individual conference champions and 27 All-Americans.
Mitchell returned to the Midwest after just over a decade on the West Coast at Fresno State. As an Assistant Director for Strategic Communications from 2014-25, he spent time as the primary contact for men's and women's basketball, women's soccer, women's lacrosse, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. He has also served as the football program's secondary contact from 2016-19. During that time, the Bulldogs' football team became the first program in FBS history to record back-to-back double-digit win seasons following a double-digit loss season.
Prior to arriving in the Central Valley during the fall of 2014, Mitchell spent 14 months as a media relations assistant at University of South Carolina working with the department’s women’s soccer, swimming and diving, cross country and track and field programs. He also served as the men’s basketball team’s contact during the 2013-14 conference season.
Mitchell worked the 2012-13 year at Virginia Tech as a communications intern overseeing the Hokies’ men’s soccer, cross country and track and field programs. The year prior, he served as the primary contact for the women’s soccer, men’s tennis, golf, cross country and track and field programs at SMU where he was a public relations intern. Mitchell spent the 2010-11 year working as a media relations assistant at Northern Illinois University.
A native of Sycamore, Ill., Mitchell received his bachelor’s degrees in journalism and mass communications, and health and sports studies from the University of Iowa in 2009. While there, he worked in the Hawkeyes’ communications office as a gameday worker and staff writer. Prior to graduation, he gained additional experience during his final semester working as a communications intern with Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution in Foxborough, Mass.
