Matt Haufe joined Marquette University Athletics as Assistant Director, Athletics Communications in October 2025.
Before arriving at Marquette, Haufe served as the Director of Athletic Communications at Elmhurst University, where he oversaw communications efforts for 21 varsity sports. During his tenure, he led a comprehensive department rebrand, launched an integrated social media and digital content strategy, and enhanced game day operations to elevate the experience for student-athletes, fans, and the community. Haufe was also a member of Elmhurst’s Senior Leadership Team, collaborating on strategic initiatives to strengthen student-athlete engagement and visibility.
Prior to Elmhurst, Haufe worked with the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics as a graduate assistant, serving as the primary communications contact for Fighting Illini soccer, men’s gymnastics, and softball.Â
Haufe earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism with a concentration in Sport Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was also selected for the NCAA Division III Athletic Communications Emerging Elite Leadership Program in 2024.
Haufe currently resides in Vernon Hills, Ill. with his wife, Allison, and two cats, Addison and Maggie.
