Ryan Mitchell joined Marquette University Athletics in October 2025 as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.
Prior to arriving at Marquette, Mitchell served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Communications, Marketing & Promotions for Madonna University, where he was the primary contact for all 21 varsity sports. He was promoted into that role in May 2022 following a successful nine-month tenure as the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant and Assistant Sports Information Director.
During his time at Madonna, Mitchell helped transform the university’s athletic outreach and brand visibility. He oversaw all athletic social media platforms, leading strategic content planning, branding, and engagement initiatives. Since assuming his leadership role in March 2022, Madonna Athletics’ social media presence grew by 55.4% overall, including a 110.9% increase on Instagram, 35% growth on Twitter/X, and a 44.1% increase on Facebook.
Under his direction, the Madonna Athletics’ YouTube channel also expanded to more than 3,000 unique monthly viewers, averaging 800 views per game and surpassing 100,000 total views per season. Across all platforms, Mitchell implemented innovative content strategies and unified graphic standards that significantly enhanced fan engagement, sponsor visibility, and national recognition.
He also elevated the department’s communications standards by introducing streamlined media operations, improved live-streaming quality, and expanded storytelling initiatives highlighting student-athletes and teams.
Mitchell brings that same vision and energy to Marquette Athletics, emphasizing professional-level coverage, consistent brand identity, and strategic storytelling to connect the Golden Eagle community with a broader audience.
A 2021 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Mitchell earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Journalism. While at BGSU, he spent three years as Head Manager for the men’s basketball team, overseeing player workouts, developing scouting reports, and assisting with recruiting presentations.
He currently resides in Franklin, Wisconsin, with his wife Ciara and their two cats, Peeky and Po.
