Sean Clancy will be entering his third year as an assistant coach for the Golden Eagles in 2026.
Clancy oversees the development and recruiting of the program's goalkeepers while playing a key role in team performance and student-athlete success. His responsibilities include goalkeeper training, post-match analysis, tactical planning, game preparation, and on-field coaching with an emphasis on the team's defensive organization and out-of-possession principles. He also leads the instruction and implementation of attacking and defending set pieces, mentors student-athletes through academic and personal development initiatives, and assists with equipment, travel logistics, and other day-to-day program operations to help provide an exceptional student-athlete experience.
Clancy started his coaching career at Maryville University before the 2019 season. In his four seasons, the Saints won a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Championships while making the NCAA Tournament in every possible year. In 2022, the team won the first GLVC Regular Season Championship in program history.
Clancy spent the 2018 season as a goalkeeper of Vrigstad IF in Sweden, which is a division IV team in the club ranks. Prior to his stop overseas, he played for a year at both the University of Missouri-Kansas City and at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Clancy earned his degree in chemistry from UMKC.
Clancy, a native of St. Louis, Missouri and played his high school soccer at Rockwood Summit High School, where he graduated in 2013.
