Marquette Volleyball Team Defeats Tulane 3-1

NEW ORLEANS - The Marquette volleyball team posted a 13-15, 15-13, 15-11, 15-10 win over Tulane Sunday afternoon in New Orleans. It was the second straight win for Marquette. The Golden Eagles are now 13-10 overall and pulled to .500 in Conference USA action with a 6-6 record. Tulane dipped to 10-13 overall and 3-9 in league matches.
The Golden Eagles had 91 kills, compared to 79 by the Green Wave. After hitting just .138 in the first game, Marquette hit a combined .277 in the final three games of the match.
Vesna Grbavac led all players with 28 kills and hit .323. The 28 kills are most by a Golden Eagle this season. Chris Curtin chipped in 21 kills and Annie Richey had 30 digs, the team high this season. Amy Levin hit a match-best .478 (15-4-23). Liz Egasti had 77 assists, her high in 1999.
Kim Sentmore topped Tulane with 26 kills. Lacey Vicknair added 22 kills and seven block assists and hit .432.
Marquette plays its final home series of the season this weekend. The Golden Eagles host Cincinnati on Friday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. Marquette's home finale is against Louisville on Sunday, Nov. 7, at Noon. Both matches will be played at the Marquette Gym (1532 W. Clybourn St.)
