Marquette Volleyball Team Shuts Out UAB 3-0

Milwaukee - The Marquette volleyball team swept UAB 15-1, 15-12, 15-2 Sunday afternoon at the Marquette Gym. The Golden Eagles improved to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in Conference USA action. Marquette's 2-0 start in league play marks the best conference start in school history. UAB fell to 6-9 overall and 0-3 in C-USA play.
The Golden Eagles were dominant in every phase of the match, registering 32 kills and a season-high 13 service aces. Marquette hit .250 and limited UAB to -.039.
Senior Chris Curtin led all players with 10 klills and nine digs and hit .318 (10-3-22). She also had three block assists. Vesna Grbavac had eight kills, served four aces, and registered eight digs. Kelly Kaylor had a strong outing with six kils, three aces and two block assists.
Denise Feer paced UAB with six kills.
Marquette concludes this three-match Conference USA homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 28, with a contest against DePaul. Action gets underway at the Marquette Gym at 7 p.m.
