Marquette Falls at Purdue in Five Games

West Lafayette, Ind. - The Marquette volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Purdue in the second round of the Mortar Board Premier tournament in West Lafayette, Ind. Saturday afternoon.
After losing the first two games 15-5 and 15-11, Marquette came back to win games three and four, 15-13 and 15-9, respectively. In the decisive fifth game, the Boilermakers outhit Marquette .261 (8-2-23) to .150 (6-3-20) and posted a 15-9 win. Purdue improved to 2-0, while Marquette dipped to 0-2.
Three Golden Eagles registered double-digit kills, led by sophomore Vesna Grbavac's 22. She also had three service aces. Chris Curtin chipped in 17 kills, hit .433, and had one block solo and four block assists. Kelly Kaylor added 10 kills and a match-high 19 digs. Freshman Danielle Hagen had a team-high five block assists.
Purdue's Aneska Arosarena had a match-best 20 kills and also had 14 digs. Maegan Petersen served four aces and had nine digs for the Boilermakers.
