Cincinnati, Ohio - Marquette held the Cincinnati men's soccer team scoreless for 69 minutes, but surrendered a goal in the 70th minute and lost, 1-0. Marquette falls to 9-4-2 and 1-3 in Conference USA play while Cincinnati is 5-7 and 3-2 in C-USA.
Cincinnati goal keeper Sacha Nathu recorded five saves and the Bearcat defense held the Golden Eagles to just eight shots as it recorded the win. Marquette goal keeper Adam Ubert (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) stopped four shots.
Defender Anders Cedergren scored for Cincinnati in the match's 70th minute on his only shot of the game. Scott Lyons crossed a ball that Cedergren put a foot to from 12 yards out.
"We deserved it," head coach Steve Adlard said. "It was a foolish mistake in the back line that cost us. If they hadn't scored it, who knows. There wasn't much going on in the game at that point."
Marquette concludes its four-match road trip with an Oct. 21 contest at Memphis at 7 p.m.
