Marquette Volleyball Drops Four-Game Decision At Loyola

Milwaukee -- The Marquette volleyball team ventured to Loyola of Chicago on Tuesday evening and dropped a four-game decision to the Ramblers, 5-15, 9-15, 15-10, 13-15. The loss leaves MU's overall record at 5-18 while Loyola improves to 14-7.
The Golden Eagles finished with a 10.1 attack percentage compared to Loyola's effort of 17.9 percent. MU enjoyed a 9-7 advantage in service aces, led by freshman Ann Lopata's (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) four, while Loyola registered a 76-72 edge in digs.
Freshman Megan Markowski (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) tied for the team's lead with 10 kills while coming up with a team-high 18 digs, her eighth double-double of the season. Lopata also notched 10 kills and chalked up 11 digs. Junior Mehgan Devine (Harris, Minn.) led all players with six blocks. Sophomore Annie Richey (Saint Louis, Mo.) chipped in 12 digs along with three service aces.
Leading the way for Loyola was junior Sarah Poglits with 14 kills and 11 digs.
Marquette resumes C-USA play this weekend (Oct. 27-28) when it hosts Southern Miss and Tulane, respectively. Game times for both evenings at the Marquette Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.
NOTE: Senior Liz Egasti came up with 38 assists this evening, boosting her career total to 4,853 -- 20 shy of becoming C-USA's all-time leader in that category. Abby Thatcher of UAB (1995-98) holds the mark of 4,872.
