Marquette Volleyball Loses At Charlotte

Milwaukee -- The Marquette volleyball team dropped its second straight C-USA match this evening, dropping a four-game decision to Charlotte, 15-11, 12-15, 11-15, 8-15. The loss leaves MU's record at 4-13 overall, 3-3 in the conference, while Charlotte is now 7-10 in overall play, 2-4 in C-USA. The match was played at Halton Arena on the Charlotte campus.
Freshman Ann Lopata (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) led the Golden Eagles with 17 kills while classmate Megan Markowski (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) chipped in 15. Sophomore Annie Richey (Saint Louis, Mo.) spearheaded the defensive effort with 12 digs while Markowski, sophomore Danielle Hagen (Milwaukee) and freshman Gemma Greer (Winfield, Ill.) registered 11.
The 49ers finished the match with a 15.2 attack percentage while MU registered a mark of .092. Charlotte posted an 83-71 advantage in digs and out-blocked the Golden Eagles, 12-5. Charlotte's top hitter was Christy Galvin with 20 kills.
Marquette's next action takes place this Sunday (Oct. 8) at Saint Louis starting at 2:00 p.m.
