The Marquette University volleyball team competed in its opening spring tournament this past weekend in Bloomington, Indiana.
In a rally-score format, the Golden Eagles defeated Indiana State (35-18, 35-31) and Bowling Green (35-30, 35-33) while coming out on the short end to Ball State (31-35, 31-35) and Southern Illinois (34-36, 28-35). In a shortened match, host Indiana topped Marquette by a 35-31 margin.
Head Coach Laura Farina was generally pleased with what she saw from her squad.
"Overall, I felt that our first spring competition was a positive experience," Farina said. "Heading into the weekend, our goals were to build upon areas where we need improvement and we were able to accomplish that. Now, we'll watch the tape and continue to evaluate where we need improving."
Marquette will host a tourney starting at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday (April 1) at the MU Gymnasium. Joining the Golden Eagles will be the UW-Milwaukee
