Marquette won three matches en route to improving its 18th-place ranking. It took 46 seconds of overtime for the Golden Eagles to overcome Oakland, 2-1. Marquette then took care of Drake, 3-2, at the first match of the Ameritas Classic, and then handed third-ranked Creighton its first loss of the season.

Last time: UMKC won, 1-0, on Nov. 1 of last season. Series History: Marquette leads, 2-1.
SCOUTING WISCONSIN
Wisconsin enters the week after upsetting Yale in Madison, 2-0. Badger forward Dominic DaPra scored both UW goals while goalkeeper Moriba Baker totaled five saves to record his fifth career shutout.

HEAD COACH STEVE ADLARD
The sixth head coach in the 36-year history of the Marquette men's soccer program, Steve Adlard is now in his ninth year at the helm of the Golden Eagles.
Under the guidance of Adlard, the 1993 Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year, Marquette posted the most wins in school history in 1994 (16) and compiled five straight winning seasons from 1993-97. Adlard has produced double-digit victories in five of his eight seasons. He has a 95-68-15 (.575) his nine years at Marquette and a 148-124-24 (.541) overall mark that spans 14 seasons.
Adlard guided the Golden Eagles to their first-ever NCAA Tournament and a share of the Conference USA regular-season championship in 1997. Marquette earned an at-large berth to the tournament following a season that saw the team consistently ranked in the Top 25 in several polls. Additionally, he is second on the Marquette winning percentage list and has led his squad to winning years in six of the last seven seasons. He also is second on the all-time wins list at Marquette.
A former goalkeeper for the British universities national team, Adlard previously has served as the head coach at UNC Asheville and Davis & Elkins.
IN THE POLLS
Marquette has climbed to seventh in the NSCAA weekly poll. Marquette entered the poll at 18th on Sept. 18 for its first entry in the poll. The mark of seven is the highest ranking in the history of Marquette men's soccer. Previously, Marquette was ranked as high as 11th on Oct. 6, 1997.
In the Great Lakes Region, Marquette has assumed the top spot ahead of Indiana. The Hoosiers, despite a 4-3 record, had held on to the top spot in the region prior to this week.

MOREHEAD NAMED PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
For the second time this season Marshall Morehead had a hat trick as he earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors. Morehead scored his seventh, eigthth and ninth goals of the season against the Bluejays to earn the honor.
With a three goal effort against UW-Milwaukee and an assist against Evansville, senior Marshall Morehead was named the Conference-USA offensive player of the week for the week ending Sept. 4. It was the first time Morehead had won the honor.
AGAINST RANKED FOES
The Golden Eagles 3-1 win over then third-ranked Creighton on Sept. 24 marked the second time in Marquette men's soccer history that it has defeated the nation's third-ranked team. In 1997, Marquette defeated Washington on Sept. 26, 2-1.
OUTSCORING THE OPPOSITION
Logically, when a team has a record the likes of Marquette's, it is easy to figure that the team would score more than it's opposition. The Golden Eagles hold a 21-9 edge in scoring over their foes. On the average, Marquette outscores its opponents by a 2.625-1.286 margin. The MU defense has kept the pressure off of keeper Adam Ubert as he has made just 17 saves on the season for a 2.125 saves-per-match average.
FIVE IS A LOT
Marquette's five goals against UW-Milwaukee was the highest output for a season opener since the Golden Eagles beat Valparaiso, 6-0, on Sept. 3, 1994. It was Marquette's highest goal output since a 5-1 win over Ohio State on Nov. 2, 1994.
The Golden Eagles have scored a handful of goals or more on 36 occasions in the program's 36-year history.
MOREHEAD, RETI NAMED PRESEASONS ALL-CUSA
Senior forward Marshall Morehead and junior midfielder/forward Sean Reti were the two Golden Eagle representatives to earn spots on the preseason all-conference team. Morehead, the team's MVP during the 1999 season, was an All-Conference USA First-Team selection a year ago and ranked as the squad's top point producer with 28 points on a team-high 13 goals and two assists. Reti also earned All-Conference USA First-Team accolades after finishing second on the club in scoring with 17 points on five goals and a team-high seven assists.
EAGLES TABBED FOURTH IN PRESEASON BY LEAGUE COACHES
In a preseason poll conducted by Conference USA coaches, the 2000 Marquette men's soccer team has been picked for fourth place. Holding down the top spot in the preseason rankings is Saint Louis while UAB and Cincinnati are second and third, respectively.
