Marquette Wins Great Alaska Shootout Championship

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - David Diggs scored 15 points, going 5-for-5 from 3-point range, to spark Marquette to a 72-63 victory over Gonzaga in the championship game of the Great Alaska Shootout on Saturday night.
Travis Diener scored 14 points, seven assists for Marquette (5-0) and combined with Cordell Henry to hold Gonzaga star Dan Dickau to 10 points.
Zach Gourde led Gonzaga (3-2) with 15 points and six rebounds.
Gonzaga led most of the first half behind Gourde, who hit all six of his first-half shots.
Two 3-pointers by Travis Diener gave Marquette its first lead with 3:40 remaining in the first half. A layup by Scott Merritt on a feed from Diener extended the lead to 37-31 at the half.
The Bulldogs scored the first six points of the second half to it 37-37.
But two baskets by Oluoma Nnamaka and a 3-pointer by Diggs put Marquette up 44-38 and Gonzaga could get no closer than three the rest of the game.
Dwyane Wade was selected the tournament's outstanding player and had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the final.
