Women's Track Team Finishes 4th in Conference USA Championships

The Marquette women's track team returned from the Conference USA Championships in Houston with a no. 4 finish under their belts.
The team finished 4th last year as well. The Golden Eagles had a fine showing, with nine of them achieving personal bests at the meet.
Freshman Brianna Dahm was named Female Freshman of the Year for the conference. She placed fourth in the 800 meters and second in the Mile run, with a time of 4:57.70.
Sophomore Kate Gordon ran a personal best in the 60 meters, good enough to move her to no. 3 on Marquette's all-time list. Gordon also set a personal best in the 200-meter dash, and is now fifth on the all-time list.
Senior Megan Kosman set a school record and placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.81. Junior Jeannette Batie also set a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, placing her behind Kosman in the all-time standings, with a time of 8.85.
The 4X400-meter relay team, consisting of junior Jennifer Batie, Kosman, Gordon and Jeannette Batie, finished second overall, with a time of 3:49.29.
In the 3000 meters, sophomore Susan Barth out-did her old personal best, and set a new one with a time of 9:49.12, placing her 2 nd on the all-time list as well as second in the meet. Senior Erika Jacobson ran a season best (10:00.11) and finished 5 th. Behind her was junior Bethany Harry who finished 7 th and finished with a personal best in the 3000 meters.
Harry also set a new personal best for herself in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:17.14, ranking her no. 5 on the all-time list. She finished behind Barth, who won the event.
The Golden Eagles also set new personal records on the field. In the shot put, senior Annie Lewandowski finished first overall, and threw a new personal best, moving her to 4 th on the all-time list (46-10).
The team will head to Ames, Iowa for the Last Chance meet on Friday. The Indoor Championships start on Saturday.
