The Marquette men's tennis team was ousted from the Conference USA tournament following a 4-0 loss to DePaul on Thursday.
The No. 1 doubles team of Peter Mojzis and Raj Gill were the only Golden Eagles to see victory on Thursday, their 8-5 victory gave the Golden Eagles and early advantage in the doubles play. Later losses by the No. 2 team of Bary Cordemeijer and Brian Verban and the No. 3 team of Justin Holsen and Kent Davies allowed for the Blue Demons to secure the doubles point.
After that, it was all Blue Demons. DePaul's John Michael beat Frank Rigo at No. 6 singles without losing a game and DePaul led 2-0.
Dan Bennett of DePaul took Brian Verban in straight sets at No. 5 singles to give DePaul the 3-0 advantage.
Down 3-0 and having won only one set in any of the singles matches, things did not look good for the Golden Eagles. DePaul's Robert Kurek who beat Raj Gill at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4, won the deciding match.
Peter Mojzis, Bart Cordemeijer and Justin Holsen all had their matches halted in the second set due to the 4-0 advantage of DePaul.
The Golden Eagles will now play in the ninth place match on Friday at 9 a.m. against St. Louis.
