Marquette Women's Volleyball Team Beats DePaul

Milwaukee-- After dropping its first game, the Marquette women's volleyball team sprang into action to defeat DePaul in four games -- 19-30, 30-24, 30-23, 30-18 in the last home game of the season. Marquette's record improves to 3-11 in Conference USA play and 13-15 overall. Depaul's record now stands at 1-12 in the conference and 5-25 overall.
Four Golden Eagles earned double-digits in the attack category with freshman Theresa Coughlin (Chicago, Ill.) leading the way with 17. Jesse Klein (Lena, Ill.) was next for Marquette earning 16 kills. Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) added 11 and Shannon Devine (Harris, Minn) posted 10 kills.
Sarah Vernon (Englewood, Colo.) had 12 digs for Marquette while Gemma Greer (Winfield, Ill.) added 10. The Golden Eagles earned a 21.5% attack average, claiming 67 total kills.
Senior outside hitter, Katie Engle led the way for the Blue Demons with a team-high 16 kills and 14 digs. Junior Lara marks contributed 15 kills with a 35.5% attack average while also adding nine kills.
The Golden Eagles head to Chicago for the Conference USA Tournament Nov. 22-25, before playing North Carolina on the road at 2:00 p.m. CST.
