Women Lose Tough Match to Illinois

The Marquette women's tennis team finished up their weekend Midwestern road trip with a stop in Champaign, Ill. to face the Fighting Illini.
The match was the last home match for Illinois before they start their Big Ten match-ups and they were ready to fight, winning the No. 1,2,4 and 5 spots in straight sets.
Marquette sophomore Annabelle Espinosa gave Tiffany Eklov a tough match, sending the second set into a tie-breaking round before losing 2-6, 7-5 (7).
Junior Alex Stankovic held her own in the No. 6 position, defeating Michelle Webb in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.
The Golden Eagles take to the road again next week with a trip to Iowa City on Feb. 16 and then to Northwestern on Feb. 20.
Marquette's current record for the spring season is 1-4.
