Marquette conquers Creighton

After falling to Northern Iowa yesterday, the Golden Eagles men's tennis team regrouped to defeat the Creighton Bluejays. Marquette swept the dual match, winning 5-2 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action.
Raj Gill (no. 1) once again led the way in singles play. He is now 5-1 on the season. The sophomore from England defeated Oliver Floth, 6-1, 6-2. Gill was also victorious with partner Justin Holsen, as they beat Kevin Otto and Jesse Plotte, 8-1.
Joe Bates (no. 4) moved his singles record to 3-2 on the season. Bates defeated Tom McCarthy, 7-6, 6-1. Creighton Macy (no. 5) notched his first win of the spring by beating Ryan Polito, 6-4, 6-2.
The Golden Eagles are now 3-3 this spring. They will play host to UAB, East Carolina and Saint Louis in a Conference USA regional invitational Feb. 22-23 at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. UAB and East Carolina will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday morning, followed by Marquette and Saint Louis at 4:00 p.m. Action will resume on Saturday morning with losers-play starting at 8:00 a.m. The winners will then play at 4:00 p.m.
