Men's Soccer Inks One Kyle Weber signs to play for Marquette in 2002
MILWAUKEE - Head coach Steve Adlard has announced the signing of Kyle Weber to a National Letter of Intent. Weber is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School in Bloomington, Minn., and will attend Marquette in the fall. The 6-foot-2 Weber played outside defender in high school and will likely continue to play that position for the Golden Eagles.
"We are delighted Kyle is coming," head coach Steve Adlard said. "We like what he brings to the program. He's a good type of young man that very much fits the mold of the current Marquette players. He's tall and he's very athletic. He will be a great addition to our program."
Weber was a three-year starter for coach Dan Storlein at Jefferson. He was an All-Conference selection in his final three years and was an All-State selection as a senior. He helped his team to a pair of second-place finishes at the Minnesota AA state championship tournament as a sophomore and junior. In his senior season, he scored three goals in the playoff tournament as Jefferson finished in fourth place with a 16-2-4 record. His club lost its first game of the season in the state semifinal match before falling in the third-place match.
Last summer, Weber earned valuable playing experience with the St. Paul Blackhawks under-17 club team. The squad, coached by Dave Cody and Wayne Stafki, played in the USA Cup in Blaine, Minn., the College Search Kickoff in Muscatine, Iowa, the Madison Invitational in Madison, Wis., and the Dana Cup in Bor, Sweden.
