Golden Eagles fall to Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Marquette saw its streak of three straight victories come to an end on the first leg of its spring trip. The Golden Eagles were downed by Jacksonville University, 4-2. Marquette's record now stands at 6-5 on the year.
Joe Bates (No. 5) and Creighton Macy (No. 6) were the lone victors for Marquette on the afternoon. Bates defeated Jimmy El-Khoury in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. On the season, Bates moved to 4-1 in the No. 5 spot and 9-4 overall.
Sophomore Creighton Macy beat Rich Davoli, 6-3, 6-1. Macy improved to 5-2 playing in the No. 6 spot and 10-4 for the year.
The team will travel to Saint Augustine as it completes its spring trip against the Flagler Saints on March 13. Last season Marquette defeated Flagler 5-2.
