SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Golden Eagles dropped their second and final match on their spring trip to NAIA-power Flagler College. After dropping its first match down South, Marquette was looking to rebound against the Saints. However, Flagler thought otherwise, as the Saints avenged their loss to Marquette from last spring.
By losing 5-2, Marquette has now lost two consecutive matches, after winning a season-high three in a row. The Golden Eagles are now 6-6 on the season.
Marquette earned a point in doubles action as it saw its No. 1 and No. 3 pairs prevail. Gill and Holsen evened their record to 3-3 in the top slot, as they defeated Raphael Maurer and Alek Mierzwinski, 8-4. Following suit in the three spot were Joe Bates and Kent Davies. Bates and Davies beat the team of Michael Roberson and Thomas Schweizer, 8-6.
The Golden Eagles will return to action on March 19 when they host the University of Wisconsin at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium, the Badgers are currently ranked No. 50 in the nation. Play will begin at 4:00 p.m.
