Marquette Cross Country Teams Sweep Bradley Invite

Milwaukee-- The Marquette men's and women's cross country teams both took home first-place finishes tonight at the Bradley Invite in Peoria, Ill. The 20th ranked women's squad came away with a resounding victory-- ending the event with only 18 points in the 5-K race, making the team three-time defending champions of the race.
The top-three spots were claimed by Golden Eagles and the team had five runners in the top-ten finishers out of a field of over 200-runners. Senior Susan Barth (17:17) finished first and was followed closely by senior sisters Jessie Swan (17:18) and Jackie Swan (17:44). Freshman Alli Sauer came in 5th with a time of 17:59 and Rachel Kirvan rounded out the top-ten with her time of 18:19.
The Marquette team put distance between it and the other schools. Bradley University took home second place with 67 points and Indiana State University finished third with 107 points.
The men's team claimed the first place win with a one-point victory over Eastern Illinois University in the 8-K race. The men's squad finished with 43 points and posted four runners in the top 20 finishers of over 200-runners. Freshman Brent Des Roches (25:09) led Marquette with his 6th place finish. Junior Jake Remitz (25:10) was only one second behind Des Roches for the 7th place spot. Bo Erickson (25:27), Jason Crichton (25:40) and Sal Graziano (25:45) took the 10th, 14th and 17th spots.
