The Marquette men's and 28th ranked women's cross country teams will be in action this weekend at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore., and the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago.
Coach Dave Uhrich will be sending the men's and women's "A" teams to the Willamette Invitational.
"It's a good meet, certainly not as big as last weekend, but we don't want a big meet like that every week," said Dave Uhrich.
Included in the meet will be a number of teams from the west coast, including Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Santa Clara. Marquette is the only Conference USA team attending the meet.
"The course is a little bit faster than we are used to," said Uhrich, making for an advantage for the runners. Another advantage for the Marquette women runners is the 5k distance of the race. The women are used to running a 6k race. The men will run the standard 8k they have been running all season.
Senior Brianna Dahm who has been battling a sore knee and sophomore Brent Des Roches who has a sore ankle are both up to competition strength and will be running Saturday.
The men will race at 9:30 a.m. (PDT)/11:30 a.m (CDT) and the women will start at 11:30 a.m. (PDT)/1:30 (CDT).
The men's and women's "B" teams will be in Chicago at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Saturday.
Action will kick off from the Montrose Ave. Beach with the women's 5k race at 11:15 a.m. followed by the men's 8k at noon.
