Jakubek Earns Conference USA Athlete of the Week Honor

Marquette sophomore Jodi Jakubek was named Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week today.
Jakubek took second place overall at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore. on Saturday with a time of 17:02.12. Marquette, ranked 28th in the nation, enjoyed its first team victory of the season. It was the first time Jakubek has won an Athlete of the Week award. Saturday was the second time that Jakubek was the top team finisher for the Golden Eagles as she took 24th overall at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 29.
The last Marquette woman to win the award was Susan Barth who earned the honor on Sept. 17, 2002.
The Golden Eagles have the week off and will prepare for the Pre-NCAA Meet in Waterloo, Iowa on October 18.
