Milwaukee-The Marquette men's tennis team is off to Madison Wis. for the Wisconsin Invitational this weekend. Play will begin Friday, Oct. 10, and continue through Sunday, Oct. 12.
Teams participating in the tournament are: Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northern Illinois and Wisconsin.
Coach Steve Rodecap says his team will be up against stiff competition, including the team he coached last year, Northern Illinois.
"This will be a tough test for us because we will be facing some very good teams," Rodecap said. "(This weekend) will give me a good idea of where we stand as a team verses how we are individually."
The Golden Eagles are coming off of a hard weekend of play in the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Tournament where no Marquette players advanced to the qualifying tournament.
Rodecap says the team is improving.
"I will say one thing about our players to this point," he said. "They have worked extremely hard. We know we aren't where we need to be but we are making progress.
Rodecap says he also is looking forward to the challenge of facing his former players in competition this weekend.
