Golden Eagles Fall to Madison

Milwuakee-The Marquette women's tennis team lost its match tonight, 7-0, to the University of Wisconsin-Madison at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Madison's campus. The Golden Eagles are now 1-8.
Michelle Mojzis brought her No. 1 singles match against Line Mues to an extra set, but failed to hang on as she lost, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. Mojzis is now 2-9 on the season.
Eva Trujillo-Herrera lost the No. 2 singles match, 7-5, 6-3, to Shana McElroy. Trujillo-Herrera falls to 4-13.
In No. 3 singles, Annabelle Espinosa fell, 6-1, 6-0, to Katie McGaffigan. Espinosa is now 1-7.
Veronica Garcia Briseno, after winning the first set of the No. 4 singles match, 6-3, lost the next two, 6-4, 6-1. Garcia Briseno, who leads the team with wins, is now17-7.
The No. 5 singles match was decided by Lara Vajnov of Madison, as she beat Anna Pavlovic, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-1. Pavlovic is 11-9.
Alexandra Stankovic lost the No. 6 singles match, 6-1, 6-2, to Teresa Gonzaga. Stankvovic's record is now 4-8.
Genevieve Charron was defeated in the No. 7 singles match, 6-3, 6-2 to Alise Cogger. Charron falls to 0-3 on the season,
The Golden Eagles lost the doubles point as Mozjiz/Stankovic lost the No. 1 doubles match, 8-3 to Mues/Vojnov. The No. 2 doubles match was claimed by Espinosa/Briseno, 8-3, as they defeated McGaffigan/McElroy. Pavlovic/Trujillo-Herrera lost the No. 3 doubles match, 8-7, to Martin/Gonzaga.
Marquette plays next on February 22 as it faces Iowa at home. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
