Men's Soccer Signs Four

MILWAUKEE - Head coach Steve Adlard announced the signing of four players to national letters of intent. The new class includes Matt Blouin from Leawood, Kan.; Nathan Sabich from Springfield, Ill.; Bennett Lafferty from Freeport, Ill.; and Richie Harris from Shawnee Mission, Kan.
"This is a very good class," head coach Steve Adlard said. "Everyone we signed is playing on a high level and bring great skills with them. All come from very prominent clubs, some of the best in the midwest, and we're very pleased with that."
Blouin comes to Marquette from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, the same high school as current MU players Derek Gutierrez and Chris Lee. Blouin, a forward, has impressive credentials. He was selected an All-American in 2002 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He was also an all region selection by the NSCAA and was the Kansas State Player of the Year. In addition to his numerous awards, he was also first-team All-Conference, All-Metro and All-State. HIs club team, the Kansas City Legends, has won the past four state championships and he is on the Kansas Olympic Development Program State Team.
MU's second signee from Kansas, Harris played midfield at Shawnee Mission East High School. He was captain of his high school team, was an All-Conference selection and was a four-year letterwinner. He is also team captain of the Kansas State ODP squad and was a member of the Kansas City Attack club, which was a two time state champion.
One of three players from Illinois, Sabich was a defender/midfielder at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. He was a first team All-State, All-Section and All-Conference selection i 2002 and led his squad to a state title. He is a member of the Illinois State ODP team and is a member of the Metro FC Club.
Lafferty comes to Marquette from Freeport High School. LIke Sabich, he was first team All-State, All-Section and All-Conference last season. A defender, Lafferty was also a member of the Illinois State ODP squad and is a member of the Rockford Raptors Club.
"Positionally, it's a very nice balance, covering the needs we have," Adlard said. "It's a very strong group as a whole. Combining these players with the talent of the returning class and we're excited about the potential we have next season."
