Women's Tennis Drops Match to Indiana, 4-3

Milwaukee-The Marquette women's tennis team lost a close road-match Saturday to Indiana University, 4-3. The Golden Eagles are now 0-7.
After encountering her first lost of the 2003 season against Baylor last week, junior Veronica Garcia Briseno is continuing to win as she defeats Dominika Walterova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, in the No. 4 singles match. Garcia Briseno leads the team in wins with 16 on the season as her record improves to 16-6.
Freshman Michelle Mojzis lost the No. 1 singles match, 7-5, 6-2, to Linda Tran. Mojzis is now 2-7 on the season.
Eva Trujillo Herrera claimed the No. 2 singles victory against Sarah Batty, 7-6, 2-6, 6-4. The junior's record now stands at 4-11.
In the No. 3 singles match, junior Annabelle Espinosa was defeated, 7-6 (3), 6-3, by Martina Grimm. Espinosa's record falls to 0-6.
After dropping the first set of her first match of the season, 6-2, junior Genevieve Charron came back to win the second set 6-4 before losing the third match 6-2 to Karie Schulkebir.
Senior Anna Pavlovic took the No. 6 singles match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, from Sophie Rychlik. Pavlovic is now 10-8.
The Golden Eagles lost the doubles point as Alexandra Stankovic and Trujillo Herrera was the only pair to claim a win. Stankovic/Trujillo Herrera defeated Schulkebir/Rychlik, 8-2. The next match for Marquette will be 1 p.m., Feb. 15 as it hosts Illinois State.
