Women's Tennis Caught by Western Michigan University

Milwaukee-- The Marquette women's tennis team fell to the University of Western Michigan this evening, 6-1. This is the second lost the Golden Eagles suffered this weekend after winning two straight road matches to Saint Louis and South Florida. The Golden Eagles currently post a 3-13 record.
Alexandra Stankovic was the only Marquette netter to claim a win against Western Michigan as she took the No. 6 singles match, 6-3, 6-4, from Shamim Mavani. Stankovic's record is 5-10.
Eva Trujillo Herrera dropped the first set of the No. 1 singles match, 6-4, and then took the second set into extra games, but failed to take the match to another set and lost the match, 6-4, 7-5. Trujillo Herrera is now 7-17 on the season.
In No. 2 singles, Annabelle Espinosa, after losing the first set, 6-0, came back to win the second, 6-2, but failed to hold on and was outlasted 6-1 in the third set. Espinosa's record falls to 2-13.
Veronica Garcia Briseno, who holds the best record on the team, lost the No. 3 singles match, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (16-14) to Valeria Stoilova. Garcia Briseno's record is now 21-10.
Anna Pavlovic lost the No. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-1, to Malena Remynse. Pavlovic's record stands at 14-13.
Genevieve Charron fell in the No. 5 singles match to Rattiva Hiranrat, 6-3, 6-4. Charron's record slips to 2-7.
The Golden Eagles lost the doubles team point as they won only the No. 3 match. Stankovic/Trujillo Herrera claimed a victory over Peters/Girsang, 8-2. The No. 1 duo of Pavlovic/Garcia Briseno lost, 8-2, to Peters/Girsang. The No. 2 doules match saw Espinosa/Charron fall to Stoilova/Hirant, 8-2.
Marquette heads into action next on March 29 against Tulane. The match starts at noon CST.
