NIU Takes Match From Marquette, 7-0

Milwaukee-The Marquette men's tennis team lost, 7-0, to Northern Illinois University tonight in Rockford, Ill. The Golden Eagles post a 2-11 record.
Tonight's match was the first of the 2003 season for Ricky Servoss and Matt Mueller.
Servoss played in the No. 5 spot. His opponent was Aaron Forsberg who took the match, 6-1, 6-2. Servoss's record is now 4-7.
Mueller entered at the No. 6 spot against Stephen Guntly. Mueller lost the match, 6-3, 6-0, dropping his overall record to 2-6.
Eigintas Vedrickas played at the No. 1 spot tonight after eight matches at the No. 2 singles player. Vedrickas' match-up was against Raymond VanWasbeek who claimed a 6-0, 6-1, victory over Vedrickas. Vedrickas owns a team best 8-16 record.
The No. 2 match was Troy Delmege verses Juan Pablo Barriga. Delmege fell, 6-4, 3-6 (7), dropping his record to 3-10.
Creighton Macy took his No. 3 match against Erick Martinez to a tie-breaker before losing, 6-7, 6-3 (10-4). Macy is third on the team in wins with his 5-17 record.
Ian Kawas lost the No. 4 singles match, 6-3, 6-1, against Willy Gali. Kawas's record is 7-12.
The Golden Eagles failed to take the doubles point as the No. 1 duo of Delmege/Kawas lost, 8-2, to VanWasbeek/Forsberg. Gill/Mueller dropped the No. 2 match to Barriga/Martinez, 8-2. The No. 3 doubles match was taken by Gali/Guntly as it defeated Macy/Vedrickas, 8-4.
Marquette plays next on April 3 at Helfear against DePaul in its last match of the regular season.
