Jessie Swan, Des Roches Named Cross Country MVPs

The Marquette Cross Country team announced its team MVPs for the 2002 season at the Marquette All-Sports Banquet on Sunday, April 27.
The women's team named senior Jessie Swan (West Allis, Wis./Central) MVP. Swan was Marquette's top finisher at the NCAA National Championship meet where she took 45th place with a time of 20:58.4. Swan also took second at the Conference USA Championship meet with a time of 21:06. She was Marquette's top finisher at the meet and helped ensure a third straight C-USA Championship for the Golden Eagles.
Swan was named co-MVP of the team in 2000 and was All-Conference in Cross Country in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
The men named freshman Brent Des Roches (Dayton, Ohio/Northmont) MVP after he was named C-USA Freshman of the Year. Des Roches finished seventh overall at the C-USA Championship meet with a time of 25:17. He also earned All-Conference honors for his performance. Des Roches was the top Golden Eagle finisher at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional with his 48th place finish of 31:49.9.
Des Roches took little time in getting his feet wet with the Golden Eagles as he was the team's top finisher at the Bradley Invite with his 6th place finish of 25:09.
