Dahm Named Outstanding Female Athlete at Central Collegiate Championships

Marquette had a strong showing at the Central Collegiate Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich on Saturday as junior Brianna Dahm was named Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the meet and the men's team took third place.
Dahm set a recorded a season best time in the 3,000m Steeplechase of 10:10.09, over 30 seconds better than the second place finisher. The time moves her up to fourth best in the nation this season and improves her top time in the NCAA Mideast Region and in Conference USA.
Marquette fared well in that event, placing runners third, fourth and fifth. Senior Jessie Swan (11:02.74), freshman Theresa Emond (11:41.65) and junior Audrey Schiltz, (11:50.55) followed Dahm.
The men finished third with 103 points-ahead of DePaul, the only other C-USA team participating in the meet-while the women's event was not scored.
Brent Des Roches continued his solid freshman season, taking first in the 5,000 meter with a time of 14:41.32. Des Roches time was a personal best.
Junior Jake Remitz recorded a personal best in the 1,500 meter taking second place with a time of 3:52.32.
Senior Nick Newton scored a number of points for Marquette in the field, taking second in the Long Jump with a mark of 23 feet 1/4 inch and seventh in the Javelin with a mark of 156-7.
Sophomore Crystal Andalcio-O'Neil recorded two first round finishes for Marquette. She took first in the 100 meter with a personal best time of 12.21. Her time of 25.39 in the 200 meter also earned first place honors.
The Marquette women showed how strong they are in distance events, placing 2-3-4 in the 5,000 meter. Freshman Jodi Jakubek ran a personal best 17:23.95 to take second place while fellow freshmen Allison Sauer (17:35.48) and Susana Emond (18:00.27) followed.
Sophomore Jenny Pribyl set a personal best in the Pole Vault, placing second with a mark of 10 feet.
Following this week's final exams at Marquette, the Golden Eagles will again focus their attention of the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis. Action there will take place on May 10. The Conference USA Outdoor Championships are right around the corner, taking place on Saturday, May 17 in Charlotte, N.C.
