Coaching Staff
Steve Adlard, Camp Director
Steve Adlard enters his twelfth year as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Marquette University and is coming off a season in which his team won the 2002 Conference USA regular season championship. During Adlard's tenure, MU has consistently received national recognition, highlighted by their 2000 season ranking of #7, the program's highest ever. In 1997 Marquette was crowned C-USA Champions. That same year the team went on to earn the first ever NCAA Tournament bid for soccer in the school's history. In 1993 Adlard was honored by his peers as the Great Lakes Region Coach of the year. Steve came to Marquette following four years as the Director of Soccer at the University of North Carolina-Asheville, making the Big South Tournament for the only four times in school history. Prior to UNC-Asheville, Adlard was the Head Coach at Davis & Elkins where he earned Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year honors in 1986 and guided the team to the Div. II National Semifinals. Previously, he was an assistant for the Evansville Purple Aces.
A former goalkeeper, Adlard played with professional clubs Nottingham Forest and Lincoln City in England. He also represented England in Internationals at schoolboy, youth and university levels. He holds U.S. and English FA college licenses and is a graduate of Loughborough College in England, where he earned a Physical Education degree. Adlard is also a state and regional coach in the Olympic Development Program for Region II.
Markus Roeders enters his eighth year as Head Coach of the Golden Eagles women's team. The 1999 season was a year to remember for the women's program. Marquette won the Conference USA tournament and received their first ever NCAA Tournament bid. In their last three season Roeders' squad has reinforced their place as one of the nation's elite with a repeat of both their C-USA Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2000 and their fourth consecutive NCAA Tourney appearance in 2002. Roeders was named the C-USA Coach of the Year in 1996 and 2000. Markus is an ODP Region II staff coach.
Frank Pelaez
Frank Pelaez enters his eighth year at Marquette University and his second season as the Associate Head Women's Soccer Coach. He came to Marquette following 4 years as the head boys and girls coach at A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, NC. In his time, Pelaez compiled a record of 88-21-6 and earned three Coach of the Year honors. Frank also coaches youth soccer in Sussex and is an ODP staff coach.

Following his four years as the Golden Eagles' goalkeeper, where he garnered 1st Team All-Conference and All-Region honors, Welch played professionally as a member of the MLS Project-40 and Los Angeles Galaxy teams. In 2000, Jim spent a year with the Milwaukee Rampage. Prior to coming to Marquette, Welch earned All-American honors and was a member of the U-18 and U-20 United States Youth National Team squads. Jim coaches youth players for Brookfield and Sussex and is also a member of the Wisconsin and Region II ODP Coaching Staffs. He currently holds a USSF National "C" Coaching License.
