Facing their second-consecutive road match against a top-25 opponent, the Golden Eagles (2-2) fell short against North Carolina (3-0), losing 7-0 Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill, N.C.
North Carolina came out strong, and behind the 41st-ranked doubles team of Aniela Mojzis and Kendall Cline, swept the doubles point against Marquette.
Marquette was unable to shake the Tar Heels in the singles matches, despite bringing some fresh faces in. Sophomore Kristin Minkowksi and freshman Andrea Bukacek each fell in their first matches of the dual season, both by the score of 1-6, 0-6.
The rest of the Marquette rotation faltered as well, as North Carolina swept all six matches, including wins at No. 1 by #34 in the country Aniela Mojzis and at No. 3 by #65 Sara Anundsen.
The Golden Eagles will look to shake their two-match losing streak against Charlotte. The neutral site match in Chapel Hill will start Sunday morning at 11 a.m. EST.
