Going into Sunday?s match, the pair had notched a 4-0 record playing off high intensity and energy. That wasn?t enough to get them past Northwestern?s Matt Christian and Adam Schaechterle, however, and Binkley/Delmege suffered a 9-7 loss.
"We had a lot of opportunities," assistant coach Armando Espinosa said. "We had the energy, we just couldn?t capitalize on the break points."
Before facing the Golden Eagles, Christian/Schaechterle had knocked off the No. 8 seed of the tournament, Illinois? Martin-Zeder.
Marquette?s next action comes on with the 29th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Nov. 3-8.
